Customize thick-walled base pipes specifically for hydrogen sulfide-resistant fittings, strengthening the safety line for critical conditions in high-end petrochemical industries

In early April, Kanghong Petroleum Tubular Goods successfully delivered a customized batch of L245NS hydrogen sulfide-resistant thick-walled base pipes for a large petrochemical project in Shaanxi. These pipes, designed for acidic conditions, meet stringent technical standards and once again demonstrate Kanghong's core technological strength in the field of high-end petroleum tubular goods. The L245NS thick-walled base pipes are made according to the API 5L/GB/T 9711 PSL2 standard for sulfur-resistant pipeline steel, specifically designed for wet hydrogen sulfide acidic environments. Kanghong controls quality from the source by strictly regulating the sulfur and phosphorus content of the billets (S≤0.008%, P≤0.010%), and employs a vacuum degassing smelting process to achieve high purity in the molten steel, thereby fundamentally eliminating the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC). Technologically, heat treatment is used to refine grain size, ensuring uniform microstructure and maintaining a stable yield strength of 245MPa. To meet the manufacturing requirements of pipe fittings, the pipes are designed to be thicker, with specifications ranging from Φ27 to 114mm and wall thicknesses from 5 to 20mm, which is 30%–50% thicker than conventional pipes, providing sufficient safety redundancy for high-pressure acidic conditions.

Building upon the technological strengths of the former Anhui Tianda Petroleum Tubular Goods Co., Ltd. in subsea sour pipeline steel, Kanghong has deeply explored the market demand for acid-resistant pipeline derivatives. Each batch of acid-resistant pipeline pipes passes dual corrosion resistance tests of NACE TM0284 (HIC) and NACE TM0177 (SSCC), and undergoes online ultrasonic flaw detection (UT) and magnetic eddy current flaw detection (ET) to ensure the delivery of defect-free products. Relying on its core strengths of "high-purity materials + customized processes + strict quality control", Kanghong's hydrogen sulfide-resistant dedicated pipes have been applied in core conditions such as refining and desulfurization, sour oil and gas transportation, and other petrochemical projects. They are also suitable for the processing needs of high-end pipe fittings such as hot-bending elbows, tees, and flanges.
